How Do I Become a Member?

So you Want to Become a Member

If you have been worshiping with us for awhile, or even if you have not, and find that  you are interested in pursuing membership in our church community, please see Father Keene who will help direct you in the faith of the Church and determine by which method you may become a member.

Membership at the Church of the Advent can happen one of several ways:

  • If you are already Episcopalian, you can simply have your membership transferred to the Church of the Advent by contacting your current parish and requesting a transfer.  They will send us a "Letter of Transfer" which will officially place you on the membership rolls of the COA.
  • If you are Roman Catholic and wish to become a member of The Episcopal Church, our bishop will come and receive you into the Church and the COA.
  • If you are a baptized member of another Christian tradition, there is an educational process toward membership in The Episcopal Church which begins each Fall.  At the completion of this education our bishop will come and confirm and receive you into the Church and the COA.
  • If you are not baptized and wish to seek the sacrament of baptism, you will be instructed in the faith and baptized; at the moment of your baptism you automatically become a member of The Episcopal Church and the COA.
