Come join us for a mid-week
jump start!
On Thursday evenings at
6:30pm, in the main church at 1301 South Charles Street,
Baltimore, MD 21230, we will have either Mass or sung Evening
Prayer a.k.a. Evensong (a very beautiful and particularly
Anglican evening service). After Mass/Evensong
we share dinner and adult education. For further
information please call the church office at 410-539-7804.
Thursdays in Lent, February 18 - March 25, at 6:30pm, we
will have quiet contemplative services of Stations of the Cross
and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by Christian
formation and a light supper of homemade soups and bread.
Please join us as we walk the way of the cross with Our Lord and
take a few moments to consider his real presence among us.
We continue Christian
formation on Thursday evenings with the following schedule of
topics:
February 18: Reading One of the Daily
Offices -
Mr. Michael Westman will lead
a study of the four daily offices,
selecting one for participants to use during Lent to enhance
their spiritual growth.
February 25: Praying the Rosary
-
Fr. Keene will teach
participants how to pray the Rosary.
Participants will be encouraged to
share their feelings about the Rosary. (Rosaries will be
provided for use at this session.)
March
4: Making a Confession -
Fr. Keene will teach participants
the why, when, and how to making individual
confessions.
March 11: Reviewing the Catechism
- Fr. Keene and
Dn. Wilkerson will lead a review
of the Catechism of the Episcopal Church.
Participants will be encouraged to ask
questions about our Episcopal faith tradition.
March
18: Engaging in Close Readings of the Sacred Texts
-
Fr. Keene and Dn. Wilkerson will
present some techniques that will help our understanding of
biblical passages. Participants will be able to apply these
methods using selective readings from the Bible.
March 25: Praying Alone: Making use
of representative models - Dn.
Wilkerson will present some models that will
be helpful in keeping a focus for individual prayers.
Participants will be encouraged to share their forms of prayers
with the group.
Note: Each weekly session will take no more than 45 minutes.
All are invited to join us for these forums as a way of keeping
a Holy Lent through spiritual disciplines. A light supper of
homemade soups and bread will follow each session.
This is a great
opportunity to gather mid-week with a community of fellow
Christians for worship, fun and fellowship.
See you Thursday!
